"Listen up, Phones. The world ends with you. If you want to enjoy life, expand your world. You gotta push your horizons out as far as they'll go."
--Localization staff speaking through the character Sanae Hanekoma from The World Ends With You

"I want to find myself in the other, and the point of it is that there is no other; it is you. That’s the deepest connection you can make in art."
--Mike White, writer of The White Lotus

The fact that [minorities'] genuine needs largely cannot be met within the confines of the library is always turning over in my mind. Which isn’t to say those populations shouldn’t be catered to, absolutely not—it’s just that the reasons they don’t come into libraries much can only be solved with [politcal engagement and] efforts outside of the library.

It's probably too quixotic to follow up a trio of quotes with something that is very clearly written to be quotable in and of itself. However, doing so allows me to meld them all together into an epigraph that cohesively conveys the spirit of my work, wherever I end up.

I want to be aware of what's possible for libraries to achieve, and I want other people to be aware of what's possible for themselves, too.
That possibility has to be based in an worldview that presents the truth, a truth that's as humane and honest and broad as it can possibly be.
That means uplifting stories and information that presents the world in the closest approximation of how we know it works, history as best we know it, humanity as multifaceted as we can be, and everything in between.

Let's take things one by one.
